I started this blog after many chats (and encouragement) with a good friend and talented artist that I rarely see these days, Diana Meredeth (http://www.dianameredith.com/) I'm a huge fan of Diana. I see that she has an exhibit coming soon that I will attend. Check out her work if you have time.
My blog was very sporadic in the early days. I tended to, and still do, keep my art to myself. But I got better at posting regularly. Partly due to my Mom in 'The Sault' bugging me, and partly due to an increasing confidence that probably came from some very good friends in my photographic community that encouraged me along the way.
The blog has alway been an outlet for my favourite images. I think initially that the term favourite was an 'out' so I could say it wasn't my best, just my favourite. I've gone back over the 1600 or more images that I have posted over the last 8 and some years and I now believe they are my best. This is because the 'technical' isn't a basis for personal enjoyment. Enjoyment is personal. Technical is some, but not all of the criteria. Yvonne will like this because she believes that I'm too critical of my work. She tells me to shut up and let the viewer decide if they like it or not. I'm not convinced.
Anyway, I've moved on to www.larrylewisphoto.com. My site is a work in progress as all web sites are. I've got galleries, and an 'opening soon' store which is driving me nuts with the details, and a blog. I think the store may be open tomorrow! I plan on keeping the galleries fresh so check back if you like the images.
The blog will be more of a weekly thing with a little context. I've got an idea that it'll be interesting sometimes and a little boring others! Maybe not. I've set up a Facebook page and Twitter account if you are interested. Search 'larrylewisphoto.'
So, back to the beginning. What does more mean to me? More means better. It means taking a bit more time, giving a little more thought in all processes.
I hope you like the site.
Larry
